The large-scale restoration of the chimney of the «North-2» boiler house, which was damaged by severe weather in November 2023, has been successfully completed.
The restoration was carried out with financial support from UNICEF. The chimney of the Odesa City Heating Company boiler house is now operational and provides heat to 120,000 residents as well as educational and medical facilities in the area.
«This winter, UNICEF's priority was to provide warmth to families and children, as well as ensure the functioning of essential services they rely on, including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and the operation of educational institutions, especially in the areas most affected by the war,» said Munir Mamedzade, head of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine.
On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Gennady Trukhanov expressed sincere gratitude to UNICEF for their consistent support and collaboration.
«The implemented project is a vivid example of international cooperation and support that we feel in everything, especially important in the restoration and development of our city's critical infrastructure. Together, we are ready to face modern challenges and provide comfortable living conditions for our citizens,» the Mayor of Odesa expressed his gratitude.
The Mayor also mentioned that work on restoring the boiler house building is ongoing; however, it does not affect the technological process of providing heat to the residents of Odesa.
