Starting from August 9, 2024, comprehensive repair works have commenced at Heroes Square in Odesa.
According to Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, to accommodate the new modern trams that have arrived in Odesa, it is necessary to carry out repairs on certain sections of the old tracks.
The works are being carried out in phases according to the established schedule and include the renovation of the roadway, tram tracks, external lighting, and landscaping of green areas.
Currently, the tram tracks have been completely replaced in both the direction of the city center and Lustdorf. The road surface has been leveled with the tram rails, improving transit and increasing traffic capacity. Road markings will be applied soon.
Furthermore, the external lighting system has been upgraded with energy-efficient fixtures, significantly enhancing safety during nighttime and reducing electricity costs.
The landscaping of green areas is also in progress, making the square more appealing to residents and visitors alike.
The work is being conducted without stopping traffic flow. Specialists from KP 'Odesmiskelektrotrans', KP 'Miskzelentrest', KP 'Odesmisksvitlo', and the Road Management Department are involved in the project.
