In Kyiv, with the assistance of the State Agency for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, an important meeting took place between the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and representatives of the South Korean corporation POSCO E&C, a leader in infrastructure construction.

POSCO E&C has an impressive track record, having built over 30 waste incineration plants around the globe. Anna Pozdnyakova, the mayor's deputy, highlighted a significant project in Warsaw that she visited in March. This facility was constructed in accordance with EU standards, which is crucial for Ukraine as it integrates European norms into its legislation. The Odesa team is studying the Warsaw experience for local adaptation.

During the meeting, the prospects of creating a waste incineration plant in Odesa were discussed, marking an important step for the city.

Vice President of the company, Mr. Kim Yong Hyun, emphasized: «We have longstanding ties with Ukraine and completed projects in various sectors, and we look forward to further collaboration».

The project has already received endorsement from the relevant ministry and has been included in the city's heating supply plan. Both parties agreed to continue working on the organizational aspects of the project.

Hennadiy Trukhanov stated: «We have government support and all the necessary conditions for the realization of this important project for Odesa. I hope we can start it as soon as possible, as it represents both an ecological initiative and a critical step in providing electrical and thermal energy for our city».
