In collaboration with the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, the city of Odessa is continuing the implementation of the «Barrier-Free Movement» project.

During today’s meeting of the Barrier-Free Council led by the Mayor of Odessa, the first phase of the barrier-free route was approved, set to be implemented in 2025. This covers the segment from Kishinivska Street to the Administrative Service Center of the Peresyp district.

The project involves comprehensive efforts to create an inclusive pedestrian environment: upgrades to sidewalks, improvement of bus stops, and the establishment of accessible infrastructure for all population groups.

«For several years, we have been carrying out extensive work: replacing tracks, modernizing key transport hubs, and renewing rolling stock. Besides tram connections, we are also organizing a pedestrian inclusive route. The city is taking on a significant portion of the costs» - highlighted Odessa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov.

This is part of a larger initiative to form the longest inclusive tram route in Ukraine, «North-South», for which 127 million hryvnias have already been allocated.
