At the Google I/O 2025 conference, Google unveiled a cutting-edge live translation feature for video meetings in Google Meet. Users can now benefit from real-time automatic translation from Spanish to English with minimal delay.
Google claims that the translation technology closely mimics natural conversation, as it not only conveys the content but also preserves the tone, speech rhythm, and even the facial expressions of the speaker. This will significantly enhance the quality of international video meetings, allowing everyone to speak in their native language while artificial intelligence handles the complex tasks.
Until now, Meet users relied solely on live captions for translation, which required reading text during conversations. The new feature will allow participants to focus entirely on communication without the distraction of textual prompts.
The feature is currently available in beta for subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans. It is expected to roll out to corporate users later this year as part of early testing. Google also plans to expand language support in the coming weeks.
