Meta has announced the global launch of a new voice dubbing feature for Reels videos. This technology utilizes generative AI to translate the user's voice with lip-syncing capabilities.
To use this feature, users must select the option "Translate your voice using Meta AI" before publishing their video. The tool then creates a translated audio track while preserving the original voice's intonation. Users also have the option to activate lip-syncing with the translated audio.
Before publication, the author can preview the result and decide whether to add synchronization. A message about the use of AI appears in videos with translations.
This feature is currently available to content creators on Facebook with over 1000 followers, as well as public account users on Instagram. Meta recommends using the tool in videos that feature direct camera addresses, without distracting background music or mouth coverage. The system supports up to two speakers, but the company advises avoiding overlapping voices.
Meta positions this new feature as a tool for expanding content reach beyond the author's native language. A translation effectiveness tool has also been implemented for this purpose.
Initially, the translation feature is available only for English and Spanish, but the company plans to expand language support in the future.
