Turkish manufacturer Baykar has introduced its latest drone model, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI. According to ArmyInform, this upgraded UAV has already undergone initial operational tests and set several new records.

The modernization includes a new turboprop engine and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence systems, significantly enhancing the UAV's flight characteristics, autonomy, and combat capabilities. The drone is equipped with three new computers that allow it to autonomously analyze, detect, and identify targets.

The updated Bayraktar TB2T-AI can perform autonomous takeoffs and landings, visually recognize runways, determine optimal flight routes, and execute dynamic route planning. Thanks to its advanced AI systems, it can navigate in complex electronic warfare environments. In case of emergencies, the drone's intelligent system can automatically return to base, greatly improving its survivability.

This UAV can ascend to altitudes of over 9000 meters in under 30 minutes, and during recent tests, it achieved a record height of 9250 meters. Despite an increase in takeoff weight and payload capacity, it has gained an extended flight range previously set at 27 hours. Other improvements include:

  • payload capacity increased by 50-100% from the previous 100 kg;
  • maximum speed increased from 220 to 300 km/h;
  • satellite communication system now extends control range from 150 km to over 1000 km.

In terms of weaponry, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI can carry MAM-C laser-guided bombs, as well as MAM-L bombs weighing 22 kg with a range of 15 km. The latest armament includes miniature cruise missiles named "Kemanquesh," capable of eliminating targets from 200 km away.

To date, Baykar has produced approximately 800 drones of this type, with exports to 36 countries. The production facilities allow for the assembly of one drone per day.

With its powerful new engine, high speed, and intelligent autonomous flight capabilities, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI could become one of the best drones in its class.
