In the Odesa region, law enforcement has arrested the deputy head of the medical advisory commission from a local hospital for accepting a bribe of $6,000 for facilitating the discharge of a soldier. An investigation is underway.
According to the Odesa police press service, the deputy head conspired with unidentified officials from the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Southern Region to assist a soldier in being discharged on health grounds. He valued his services at $6,000, promising to provide fraudulent medical documents.
"During operations to halt the suspect's criminal actions, police documented the receipt of illicit gains in two installments and the delivery of the promised medical documents, after which the suspect was detained.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators informed the offender of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving improper benefits through the abuse of official position, committed by a group of persons. This crime is punishable by up to 10 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property. The court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of a bail of 908,400 UAH. The identities of those involved in the scheme are being established," the message states.
