The educational system in Ukraine is undergoing significant transformations to meet contemporary challenges and societal needs. A key aspect is the development of practical skills in students that will enable them to protect themselves, their families, and their country.
Thus, the reform of the teaching of the subject 'Defense of Ukraine' is underway.
Initiated by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, a meeting was held to discuss the establishment and functioning of teaching centers for the subject 'Defense of Ukraine' in municipal secondary education institutions in Odesa.
Participants included: heads of secondary education institutions, teachers of 'Defense of Ukraine', representatives of public and veterans' organizations, deputies of the Odesa City Council, and members of the Coordination Council for National-Patriotic Education.
During the meeting, issues concerning the creation and operation of teaching centers for 'Defense of Ukraine' in city educational institutions, rational and effective use of available resources, and enhancement of the organizational work of the subject in light of current challenges were discussed.
Attendees were introduced to recommendations for setting up the centers developed by the project office 'Updating the curriculum for the subject 'Defense of Ukraine', supported by the 'Partnership for a Strong Ukraine' Fund, as well as the algorithm for establishing centers for teaching the subject in educational institutions.
